Last evening at approximately 7:00pm PST we experienced some unplanned downtime, which is something we take very seriously and humbly apologize for. We have resolved the issues that caused this and everything is now working normally.
Halloween is a notoriously busy night for home activity so we took precautionary steps by significantly scaling up the number of servers running, cloning our database, and dedicating engineers to keep an eye on everything through the night. Think of it a bit like Mission Control preparing for what we know could easily turn into a very stressful situation.
Over the course of the last two years our user base has grown exponentially and tonight we experienced over 5 times the load on our servers we would expect from any other night. Despite our best efforts, this resulted in some users experiencing issues when a small number of our servers went down.
Although we are seeing that almost all units have come back online automatically, if for some reason you are still running into an issue with your Kuna Powered Device, please power cycle your device (by turning the power off for 10 seconds and back on again). For those users who were affected, it is possible that recordings may not have been captured during the outage.
We sincerely apologize to those users whose Halloween experience was affected. We will most certainly learn from this experience and do everything we can to ensure that something like this never happens again.
If you are experiencing continued issues please do not hesitate to contact us at: email@example.com
