New Auto-Greeting Security Features: Real Barking Dog & New Video Voicemail

New Feature 1: Dog Barking Pattern!

Grab your visitor’s attention with realistic “Barking” dog sounds. When triggered, a natural barking dog clip will make it seem like there is a real dog guarding your home.

We’ve added four clips of a real dog with different barking patterns, so when you play the “Barking” pre-recorded message, it will automatically randomly trigger one of four barking sounds, emulating the pattern of a real barking dog.

Most burglars say dogs are their biggest deterrents.

When a group of convicted burglars were asked if pets in the home, like a dog, would deter them from breaking in, most burglars said that if there was a large dog present, they would indeed stay away.

“Dogs are a deal breaker for me,” said one inmate. “Big breeds, home protectors are the best to keep people out.”

You can set our newest sounds to play upon detection or you can always remotely play pre-recorded messages right from the Kuna mobile app at any time.

New Feature 2: “Video VoiceMail”

Never again wonder what that random stranger was doing at your door or why your neighbor was on you property.

Starting today, your Kuna Powered devices can now automatically greet visitors with a pre-recorded message similar to your phone’s voicemail answering system; when visitors approach they can be prompted by the following message:

“Hi. We can’t answer the door right now but the camera is recording so please just leave us a message. Thanks for coming by.”

Audio Example of Our New Convenient “Video Voicemail”:
Designed with your safety in mind:

The “Video Voicemail” prompt ensures visitors know they’re being recorded and gives them the opportunity to state their purpose for stopping by, without putting you in harm’s way.

This innovative feature provides you with a secure way of receiving useful HD video messages, so you always have the whole picture and story. It’s perfect for when you’re too busy to answer the door, at the office, or out of town on vacation.

An added benefit of all our security sounds:

When a visitor hears a security sound emanating from your speaker, their natural instinct is to look in the direction of where the sound is emanating from, further increasing the chance of capturing a clear image of your visitor’s face in brilliant HD.

And in the unlikely event that an incident does occur, having time-stamped video at the right angle motivates the police to respond to your burglaries and package theft calls differently than those homes with traditional alarm systems, which provide little to no evidence.

In fact, police departments like San Jose, CA, have already stopped responding to traditional alarm calls due to the high rate of false alarms.

How to configure your new security sounds:

All our new sounds can be toggled on-and-off via the Kuna app by going into your camera settings menu and selecting/clicking on the “gear” icon from the camera list view.

You can read more about the super simple settings configuration in this help center article.

*In addition, you may have noticed that we have updated our standard pre-recorded messages. This new upgrade is meant to be an improvement in sound quality and security with a more pronounced tone. Let us know what you think.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does the sound play?

The detection sound will play each time a new detection event occurs, i.e. each time a recording is started. If a recording is already in progress and someone else walks into the frame, or the user walks back into the frame, etc., the sound will not be re-played. This effectively limits the sound to be playing once per minute or two.

At what volume does the sound play?

The sound is played at the same volume as a pre-recorded message from the live view, i.e. according to the volume preference that the user has set for the camera.

Can the sound be heard from the recordings?

Yes. Users are most likely familiar with the fact that their push-to-talk audio is not present in the recordings, but pre-recorded messages are indeed present. This will allow them to capture people’s reactions to the sounds being played.
